The CCG management team comprises Australia's foremost experts on cartels and is supported by specialist legal and economic resources. A brief outline of the core team is as follows.
Hank Spier
Hank Spier was, for 17 years, Chief Executive Officer of the ACCC and, before that, the Trade Practices Commission. He has managed many cartel cases to a successful conclusion either through the courts or in negotiated outcomes.
With over 30 years experience at the ACCC and TPC, Hank's knowledge of the Trade Practices Act, case management and compliance is unparalleled. Hank is also a regular contributor to the Trade Practices Law Journal.
Professor David Round
Professor David Round is a Member of the Australian Competition Tribunal (ACT), a former Associate Commissioner of the ACCC and Director of the Centre for Regulation and Market Analysis at the University of South Australia.
David is an expert on cartels, appearing as an expert witness or making judgements in the ACT on various cases. He is widely published on legal and economic issues associated with cartel conduct.
Peter Turnbull
Peter Turnbull brings a strong commercial focus with degrees in law and commerce and long term senior executive experience with major listed companies and regulatory authorities.
Roles undertaken include General Counsel and Group Company Secretary, Chairman and Director of subsidiary companies and joint ventures and Acting Chief Executive, for organisations such as BTR Nylex Limited, Newcrest Mining Limited, Energex Limited, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (where Peter was Director).
Together with Trevor Lee, he has developed the largest cartel damages case in Australia.
Trevor Lee
Like Peter, Trevor Lee brings commercial and strategic nous to the team. He has written extensively on the law and economics of cartels.
Having worked in senior executive positions in multinationals such as TRW and Utilicorp; and in government agencies such as the Federal Treasury, the ACCC, the Prices Surveillance Authority, the Bureau of Industry Economics and the OECD in Paris, Trevor is able to marry the practical commercial objectives of companies with the requirements of the law and regulatory restrictions.
